From Fresh Fruit Bunch to Crude Palm Oil

Palm processing begins with sterilising and threshing the fruit, then digesting and pressing to release crude palm oil. Kernel recovery runs in parallel:

  • Nut cracking: a palm nut cracker separates shells from kernels with high shelling rate and low breakage.
  • Crude oil recovery: pressing releases crude palm oil, which is then clarified.

Refining Palm Oil

Crude palm oil is refined through degumming, bleaching and deodorisation to reach food-grade quality. Depending on your market you may also add fractionation for cooking oil and shortening:

  1. Degumming removes gums and phospholipids.
  2. Bleaching removes pigments for a lighter colour.
  3. A complete refining line ties degumming, neutralisation, bleaching and deodorisation together.
