The Lime Kiln 3.2x50 is a rotary kiln purpose-built for calcining limestone into quicklime. Limestone is fed at the upper end and travels down the gently sloping, slowly rotating barrel, where it is heated by a burner to between 1250 and 1350 degrees Celsius. At this temperature the carbonate decomposes, driving off carbon dioxide and leaving a highly reactive, evenly burned lime.
