Low Cloud Point Oil

Product Description

The Edible Oil Dewaxing Machine removes the wax that makes liquid oil turn cloudy at low temperature. Dewaxing uses forced cooling so that the high melting point wax solidifies and precipitates out of the liquid oil, after which the wax is separated by filtration or by centrifugal separation. Different oils carry different amounts of wax, and it is almost always necessary to dewax corn oil, rice bran oil, sunflower oil and cottonseed oil in order to keep them clear on the shelf and in the kitchen.

Conventional dewaxing is the simplest crystallization and filtration method. Oil is first cooled in a cooling chamber at 0 to 4 degrees Celsius, and after about 72 hours the final oil temperature reaches roughly 6 to 10 degrees Celsius. The cooling rate is controlled carefully: about 2 degrees per hour in the first 24 hours, 0.5 degrees per hour in the next 24 hours, and 1 to 2 degrees per hour in the last 24 hours. The oil and the precipitated wax crystals are then separated by bag filtration at 15 to 18 degrees Celsius over roughly 10 to 12 hours.

Key Features
  • Forced cooling crystallization: a controlled cooling curve that grows well formed wax crystals for easy separation.
  • Complete equipment set: cooling system, heat exchanger, crystallizing tank, maturing tank and filter.
  • Bag and plate filtration: polyester card, cotton or cotton fabric bags plus plate filters for continuous work.
  • Very low wax residue: dewaxed sunflower oil can reach a wax content of only about ten milligrams per kilogram.
  • Maturing step: after 72 hours of cooling the wax matures for 12 to 16 hours so the crystals grow larger.
  • Low cloud point result: clear oil that stays bright at low temperature and meets the finished oil standard.

Applications

The dewaxing machine is applied to oils with a significant wax content, above all corn oil, rice bran oil, sunflower oil and cottonseed oil, and it is also used for palm oil, which crystallizes at about 30 degrees Celsius. It is installed after deodorization to give a clear finished oil, and it is also useful where oil fractionation is required to obtain solid fats and liquid oils from the same raw material.

Packaging & Quality Assurance

The dewaxing line is shipped with the crystallizing and maturing tanks, heat exchanger and filters protected and braced for sea transport, and all connections capped. We supply the cooling curve parameters, the filtration schedule and an operating manual, together with a twelve month warranty on the tanks, heat exchanger and filter units.
