Product Description
Overview

Winterization and fractionation are used when an edible oil must stay perfectly clear in cold conditions. Oils such as cottonseed, sunflower and rice bran contain high melting point waxes and saturated triglycerides that crystallise at low temperature and make the oil look cloudy, which is unacceptable for salad oil and for export markets with cold climates.

The Rapid Cooling Winterization Fractionation Equipment cools the oil under controlled, gradual conditions so that wax and stearin crystals form in a filterable size, then separates them with membrane filter presses or crystallisation tanks. Precise cooling curves avoid the fine, gelatinous crystals that blind filters, and the process can be tuned to produce either a fully winterized clear oil or a fractionated liquid and solid product.

The system uses a chilled water or brine circuit, jacketed crystallisers, slow speed agitators and insulated pipework to hold the temperature profile exactly. Because the operation is automatic, the same equipment reliably reproduces the cloud point that each customer specifies, batch after batch.

Key Features
  • Controlled Cooling Curve: Jacketed tanks and a programmed coolant circuit follow a gradual cooling profile, promoting large, easy to filter crystals instead of a gelatinous mass.
  • Flexible Fractionation: The same line can winterize salad oil or fractionate palm and cottonseed oil into olein and stearin grades by adjusting temperature and residence time.
  • Insulated System: Fully insulated crystallisers, pipes and valves keep the temperature stable so energy use and crystal redissolving are minimised.
  • Large Filtration Area: Membrane filter presses with a wide plate area separate wax and stearin quickly, cutting cycle time and oil loss.
  • Hygienic Stainless Build: All oil contact parts are stainless steel and the internal surfaces are polished, meeting food hygiene requirements for edible oil processing.
  • Automatic Control: A PLC records and repeats the cooling program, guaranteeing the target cloud point for every production batch.

Applications

The Rapid Cooling Winterization Fractionation Equipment is used for cottonseed, sunflower, rice bran, corn and palm oil processing, and for producing clear salad oil that resists cloudiness in cold storage. It also serves the production of cocoa butter substitutes and fractionated fats for the confectionery industry.

Packaging & Quality Assurance

Crystallisers, filter presses and the chiller unit are shipped as separate modules on steel frames, with stainless surfaces protected by film and all flanged connections capped. Insulation is applied after installation to avoid transit damage. Operation manuals, spare filter cloths and commissioning support are provided, and the line carries a twelve month warranty against manufacturing defects.
